Nepal Driving

Not Recommended for the Faint Hearted!

One of the most dangerous roads in the world is also one of the most spectacular. Nepal attracts travelers for many reasons, but I am not sure if travelling on this road is one of them.

With all the recent activity from earthquakes in Nepal you have to wonder if this area was hit, if any vehicle on this road would be shaken off, and plunge all the occupants to certain death, .

There is no doubt that this wondrous country, with Kathmandu as her capital, hosting Mount Everest and other gigantic Himalayan mountains within her borders, is a jaw-dropper, and a magnet for adventurers from around the globe.

It is also interesting to note that Nepal is home to the legendary Gurkha’s who were among the most feared soldiers in modern history. Gallantry awards are synonymous with these magnificent fighters. Gurkha’s are closely associated with the khukuri, a forward-curving Nepalese knife and have a well-known reputation for their fearless military prowess. The former Indian Army Chief of Staff Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, once stated that “If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or is a Gurkha.”
